Cookie Policy

Our approach

We keep this deliberately simple. This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and our analytics don’t use cookies either — see below.

Strictly necessary

The only cookies this site sets are strictly necessary ones, used to:

  • Keep you signed in to the hotelier portal or the admin dashboard, if you have an account.
  • Remember your session while you use those secure, logged-in areas.

These cookies can’t be switched off, as the relevant areas of the site won’t work without them. Under the ePrivacy Directive, strictly necessary cookies like these are exempt from requiring consent — which is why you won’t see a cookie banner here.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how people find the site — page views, referring site, approximate country and device type. It doesn’t use cookies or any persistent identifier, doesn’t track you across other websites, and doesn’t build a profile of you individually — the data is aggregated, not tied to your identity. Because it involves no cookies and no personal-data tracking, it doesn’t require consent under the ePrivacy Directive either. See Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy policy.

Embedded video and audio

Our About page includes interviews and podcast episodes hosted on YouTube, SoundCloud and Spotify. These are deliberately click-to-load: nothing is requested from those services when the page opens. We show a still image served from our own domain, and the player is only loaded if you press play.

If you do press play, the relevant provider loads its player and may set its own cookies and receive your IP address, in line with its own privacy policy. YouTube videos are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, which limits the tracking YouTube applies. Choosing not to press play means no data reaches any of them.

Google Analytics (only if you accept)

We also offer Google Analytics, which does use cookies (_ga and _ga_<id>) to recognise returning visits and measure how the site is used. Because these are not strictly necessary, they are opt-in: we ask first, and nothing from Google is loaded unless you accept.

If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no Google script is requested, no request reaches Google and no analytics cookie is set. Your choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie, so declining leaves you with no cookies at all. Clearing your browser storage for this site will make the banner appear again, letting you change your mind either way.

Where Google Analytics is active, IP anonymisation is enabled and Google’s advertising and personalisation signals are switched off, so the data is used for measurement only.

If that changes

If we ever add advertising cookies, or any other non-essential cookie beyond the analytics one described above, we’ll update this page and ask for your consent before they load.
